I love painting and I love colour. In my art I want to express the moment and the story behind the picture.
As a hobby I started with water colours and then after taking a workshop on colour with Petra Amerell moved to acrylics. I then attended a weekly meet-up led by Petra for several years. A lovely group of artists – each doing their own thing.
Sophia , acrylic , 1m x 1m , Jane de Vries
Living in Munich I am inspired by the Blaue Reiter group and their experiment with colour and form – particularly August Macke.
(My take on August Macke´s woman in green, acrylic , 30 x 30)
I also love the use of colour and story telling in painting by Finnish painter Reidar Särestöniemi. I discovered him when researching for a vacation in Finland .
(my take on Särstöniemi´s Village, watercolour, 15×20)
and the use of shape, shadow and texture by Quang Ho.
While on holiday I started a painting diary of experiences which brought me back to watercolours.
I’m also a believer, wife, mother , musician and physicist who wants to live life to the full .
